Midterm Project
Using an Yamaha SPX 900 multi effect processor's various parameter editing jacks to processes a set of repeating tones the Arduino generates. The Arduino controls which patch (sound effect) the 900 is in and parameters like delay time, pitch adjustment and balance between dry and wet signals. The distance sensor silences the Arduino, and changes the program so the sound when there isn't someone within range the 900 is cycling through a fresh set of sounds. In Processing a ball is bouncing around the screen and the text So Bored is printed. The whole concept is that the electronics are playing with them selves and their sounds while no one is there to keep them busy and amused.

Linked Project #1 RGB LED System

This project appeals to my desire for lots of pretty flashing lights, and in a very expandable manner-it is designed to be controlled by a number of different microprocessors including arduino via serial rs-232 or is compatible with DMX-512, the professional grade theatrical and concert lighting control standard. Being able to address different sections of a fixture to create gradients is a very powerful ability, and it beats the hell out of making everything one pwm controlled signal, even 3 as an RGB signal.
