Hey everyone. I'm a third year, graduating after this quarter, which I'm pretty excited about. My background is in fine arts. I love painting, comic books and digital painting (with corel and sai mainly, but with photoshop as well). I'm a chronic sketcher and I have an obsessive and rather sardonic personality, which another artist tells me are good traits for artists, although I'm not yet sure why. Anyways, I'm a huge nerd; I read excessive amounts of manga, watch too many movies, and draw fanart for all of them (it's not a big a waste of time as you may think, I make money by subsequently selling said fanart at a variety of cons).

Statement

I didn't edit this page until the last minute because I wasn't sure if there was a Jenny Wang in the class. My name is Jenny Chang? So I hope I'm not disrupting anybody's page.

Yr: Third

Sex: F

Major:Cognitive Science (HCI)/ ICAM (Vis)

I'm a third year student trying to find my way in life. Right now I'm stuck between two majors. I'm stuck because I don't know which direction to focus the rest of my life on. There is the structured experiment multidisciplinary Cognitive Science that I only discovered at UCSD. ICAM which has been a lifelong dream for me to unite art with computers. I came into this major thinking that it would be my dream only to be distracted by the academic pursuit of knowledge.

I'm just confused.

I've generally painted or sketched all my life. Played with Software in Highschool then I got shoved into the world of processing and arduino and programming and flash and all of the like. I've been struggling to stand on my own two feet, to provide work that I could be proud of but I feel as if I haven't done much.

Okay, apparently someone decided I didn't exist. Lol.

Anyways, here I go with the intro.

Anyways, I'm a huge nerd; I read ungodly amounts of manga, watch too many movies, play too many video games, and draw fanart for all of them (it's not a big a waste of time as you may think, I make money by subsequently selling said fanart at a variety of cons).

Professionally, I classify myself as a graphic designer. I do website work for both the UCSD Guardian newspaper and the Virtual Reality Medical Institute in Mira Mesa.

I won't go into my personal life because...well, apart from drawing...I don't really have one.

As an aspiring artist in the field of new media, I'm hoping to find a good way to combine the instant inspiration artwork of the past with the technology of today. I often find that technology takes over a piece of artwork though, and that takes the beauty out of it for me.

Great to meet you all : D
