Working in pairs, acquire come up with a plan for a simple interactive object composed of a sensor , microprocessor, and actuator. The sensor will be its means of gathering information from its environment (perception?), and an the actuatorwill be its way of responding. Bring Acquire both the sensor and the actuator, and bring them to class next week. This means... if you need to order something online, along with a plan for how you want be sure to use themdo so before the weekend. Also try local stores: radioshack, Industrial Liquidators, San Diego Electronics Supply, or Frys.  For class: Bring in the sensor and the actuator. Also bring them in a formal description of your simple interactive object to share with the class . A formal description entails two drawings, a short paragraph, and a basic schematic of "how it works". We will look at those next week.  Don't worry if you don't know how to make it work. Pick If you are concerned about whether or not something that will work, send me an e-mail with a link to your sensor/actuator of interest before you might want to use for a project later in the termget it.  ===A Cornucopia of sensors===I gave some examples of sensors in the first part of today's lab, here . * http://www.acroname.com/robotics/parts/c_Sensors.html* Very good for interactive artworks!* What else looks interesting?** temperature** pressure** VOCs (Volatile Organic Compounds) [http://www.synkera.com/pdf/Synkera%20VOC%20Data%20Sheet.pdf] (see Natalie Jeremijenko's Feral Robotic Dogs: http://www.nyu.edu/projects/xdesign/feralrobots/)** Hall Effect sensor ===Here are some types of actuators: ===

Solenoid Stepper Motor Cellphone buzzer (I have one here) AC appliances with a relay (!!!!CAUTION CAUTION CAUTION!!! get input from me before you try anything VERY DANGEROUS!!!!) (think dancing pixar light)  Anything that moves, blinks, has activity, and runs off electricity... ?
